Provide Supplamins MidMag for optimal ewe health, prior to lambing

The last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy is a critical time for ewes, as 70% of foetal growth occurs during this period. Ensuring ewes receive adequate nutrition during this time is vital for the health of both the ewe and her lambs.

Key Considerations for Successful Lambing:

  1. Body Condition Scoring (BCS):
    • Aim for a condition score of 3 for single-bearing ewes and 3.5 for twin-bearing ewes to optimise health and productivity.
  2. Energy and Nutrition:
    • Provide supplementary energy through hay and/or grain to meet the ewes’ increased energy demands during late pregnancy, especially if they’ve been grazing dry or stubble pastures.
    • Essential vitamins and minerals are crucial to maintain the ewe’s health status and support the growth and survival of the lambs.
  3. Mineral Deficiencies and Lamb Health:
    • Good quality colostrum is crucial for lambs to build immunity and achieve optimal growth in the early stages of life.
    • Deficiencies in vital minerals can negatively impact colostrum quality and the lamb’s development.

Why Use Supplamins Mid Mag?

Supplamins Mid Mag is the ideal supplement for ewes in the lead-up to lambing and throughout lactation. It contains a balanced blend of essential vitamins and minerals to support general muscular functionality and assist with the ease of lambing. The inclusion of extra magnesium also provides essential nutrients that can often be lacking in pastures and forages.

Key Nutrients Provided by Supplamins Mid Mag:

  • Calcium: Supports bone and teeth development. Supplementation ensures ewes have adequate reserves for lambing and lactation, preventing issues like hypocalcaemia (milk fever).
  • Magnesium: Crucial for smooth muscle contraction during lambing and helps reduce stress. Magnesium must be fed daily as it cannot be stored in the body.
  • Phosphorus: Vital for energy metabolism and milk production.
  • Vitamins A & E: Enhance immunity and enrich colostrum quality.
  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamine): Supports energy supply to the brain, reducing the risk of pregnancy toxaemia.
  • Selenium: Boosts immune response and helps with brown fat mobilisation, which lambs use for warmth during the first days of life.
  • Zinc: Essential for hoof health and maintaining the health of udders and teats during lactation.
